Instructions to repaint the billboards.
By Sir James

These instructions are written following the steps I've taken to
repaint a billboard. They follow the options in certain software
and certain versions of that software. The menu options often
change from one version to the next. Basically, if your version
does'nt match mine, you will have to use your educated guess as
to which option to choose.

Software used:

Paintshop Pro 5.0 (version 4.* will do I think)
MDMRE's MTM Utilities

1. Unzip the files to an empty folder.
2. Go to that folder and rename the .bin file to a unique name. For
these instructions I will use "nubord.bin"
3. Move the newly named bin to your Monster Truck Madness folder
   i.e. C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Monster Truck Madness 2
4. Start up PaintShop Pro
5. Click "File" and choose "Open" direct it to the folder where
you unzipped the billboard. Double click to open "Gkbill.bmp"
6. Click "File" and choose "New" in the options box that pops up,
set "Width" to 240, set "Height" to 110, the drop list should say
   "Pixels", Resolution=28 Pixels/cm, "Background Color"=(any color),
   "Image Type"=16.7 million colors (24bit).
7. In this new image, paint your new advertisment. no need to paint
the frame of the billboard, just your new ad.
8. When done and happy with it, Click "Edit" and choose "Copy"
9. Now click "Window" and choose "Gkbill.bmp" then click "Edit" and
   choose "Paste....As New Selection"
10. Position and center the selection so it covers the old ad. This
will leave a border around your ad.
11. When it's positioned, click "Selection" and choose "None"
12. Now click "Colors" and choose "Decrease Color Depth....64k colors
(24bit)" The Color Reduction box will pop up, choose "Nearest
    Color" and click OK
13. Again click "Colors" now choose "Decrease Color Depth....32k colors
(24bit)" The Color Reduction box will pop up, choose "Nearest
    Color" and click OK
14. One more time click "Colors" and choose "Decrease Color
Depth....256 colors (8bit)" The Color Reduction box will pop up,
make these settings, "Palette=Optimized Octree" , "Reduction
Method=Nearest Color" "Include Windows Colors" should not have a
checkmark by it. Then click OK
15. Click on "Colors" and choose "Save Palette" Save the palette to
    the MTM directory i.e. "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Monster
Truck Madness 2" and name it the same as you named the bin file,
    i.e. "nubord.pal"
16. Click "File" and choose "Save As". Save the file to the MTM
    directory i.e. "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Monster Truck
Madness 2". Under "Save As Type" select "Raw File Format (*.raw)"
Name it the same as you named the bin file and the pal file, i.e.
    "nubord.raw"
17. Close Paintshop Pro and run MDMRE's MTM Palette Master
18. Click "Convert Palette", put a check in the box "Convert PAL to
ACT". From the list on the right, double click "nubord.pal", and
in the "Palette Filename" box type "nubord.act". Click "Create"
click OK, click QUIT click QUIT
19. Now run MDMRE's Bin Texture Replacer
20. In the list double click on "nubord.bin" Click "Search"
21. In the "Replace With" box type in "nubord.raw" and click "Update"
22. Click "Next", Click "Next", Click "Next", Click "Next"
23. "File Saved" click OK then click "Close"
24. Run the Windows Explorer and go to your MTM folder.
    i.e. "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Monster Truck Madness 2"
Find the file "nubord.bin" and move it to your "Models" folder i.e.
    "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Monster Truck Madness 2\Models"
Then find the files "nubord.raw" and "nubord.act" and move to the
    art folder, i.e. "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Monster Truck
    Madness 2\Art"
25. That's it, your done. The new model can be used in Traxx or BinEdit
